Description |
The Archive of the Center for Human and Social Sciences preserves, among its holdings, the General Collection of the Photographic Archive, whose origin dates back to the creation of the Fichero de Arte Antiguo (Ancient Art File) in 1931. This project was entrusted to the Art and Archaeology Sections of the Center for Historical Studies (CEH), with the aim of inventorying the Spanish artistic heritage. Over the years, the collection was expanded with the different lines of research developed at the center. The General Collection is divided into four main areas: Architecture, Sculpture, Painting and Decorative Arts, and is organized chronologically, geographically and by author. The photographs that make up the collection come from various sources: purchases, commissions, donations or work carried out by the research staff themselves. Thus, although the project officially began in 1931, the collection includes images prior to that date, even from the last third of the 19th century. Among the photographic holdings are works by photographers and studios such as Laurent, Archivo Moreno, Photo Club Burgos, Mora e Insa, Photo Art Lladó, Archivo Mas de Barcelona, Lacoste or Ruiz Vernacci, as well as images taken by prominent researchers such as Manuel Gómez-Moreno, Ricardo de Orueta, Emilio Camps, Diego Angulo, Elisa Bermejo, José Ramón Mélida or Jesús Domínguez Bordona, among others. The datasets presented here correspond to the series of large format photographs. This series is separated from the rest due to its larger dimensions, which require specific conservation and installation conditions. Nevertheless, it shares the same documentary characteristics as the general set of the collection. The series consists of 2,552 records, extracted from the Catalog of the Network of Libraries and Archives of the CSIC. Three datasets containing the information corresponding to the “Large Format” series belonging to the “General Collection of the Photographic Archive of the Diego Velázquez Art Institute” kept in the Archive of the Center for Human and Social Sciences of the CSIC (CCHS-CSIC) of the Tomás Navarro Tomás Library are shared. The selected data have been obtained through queries made on ALMA, the library management system currently used by the CSIC. The file “Coleccion_General_Grandes_bibliografico.xml” contains the raw bibliographic data of the catalog belonging to this selection. The file “Coleccion_Grandes_Grandes_ejemplares.xlsx” contains the raw data corresponding to the catalog specimens belonging to this selection. The file “Coleccion_General_Grandes_bibliografico.tsv” is the result of the processing of the file “Coleccion_Grandes_bibliografico.xml” which has made it possible to transform the XML file into a .TSV format in order to facilitate the visualization of the data. |
