Colección de Improntas: Liberotti Impronte. Collezione d'impronte cavate da gemme antiche e moderne, esistenti nel gabinetti d'Europa from Tomás Navarro Tomás Library

The collection of prints called “Liberotti Impronte” was created by Giovanni Liberotti, a 19th century Roman gem engraver who specialized in making these souvenirs. Liberotti was initially commissioned to make these prints based on gems from the collection of Giovanni Battista Sommariva (1762-1826), a prominent art patron and collector. Subsequently, Liberotti and together with Antonio Canova, John Gibson and Bertel Thorvaldsen decided to market the prints in the form of cameos in boxes for tourists in Rome. The prints, arranged in book format, correspond to white plaster prints of European masterpieces.

Three datasets containing the information corresponding to the collection of imprints called “Liberotti Impronte” created by Giovanni Liberotti and kept in the Archive of the Center for Human and Social Sciences of the CSIC (CCHS-CSIC) of the Tomás Navarro Tomás Library are shared. The selected data have been obtained through queries made on ALMA, the library management system currently used by the CSIC. The file “Improntas_bibliografico.xml” contains the raw bibliographic data of the catalog belonging to this selection. The file “Colleccion de Improntas_ejemplares.xlsx” contains the raw data corresponding to the catalog copies belonging to this selection. The file “Colleccion de Improntas_bibliografico.tsv” is the result of processing the file “Improntas_bibliografico.xml” to transform it into a .TSV format in order to facilitate the visualization of the data.
