Bibliography for the Study of Suburbia in the Early Medieval Period (6th–8th Centuries AD): An Archaeological Approach to the Southern Sector of the Southern Meseta

This dataset compiles a specialized bibliography forming the documentary basis for the archaeological study of suburban areas in the central Iberian Peninsula between the 6th and 8th centuries AD, within the framework of the SUBRECC Project and the associated doctoral dissertation. It includes research on urban and peri-urban topography, the evolution of Late Antique and Early Medieval road networks, socio-economic transformations following the collapse of the Visigothic kingdom, typological studies of material culture —particularly common wares, construction materials, and everyday artefacts— as well as regional case studies that contextualize settlement dynamics and territorial reorganization. The dataset provides a key reference tool for reconstructing suburban landscapes, identifying continuities and disruptions between Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages, and analysing socio-spatial structures in central Iberian urban environments.
