The Diccionario bibliográfico de la metalexicografía del español (dbme) comprises most of the works that have been published about Spanish dictionaries and encyclopaedias. Its references go back to the origins of the discipline (as far as 1535) and they include works up to 2010. Besides the history of this project, this article presents the theoretical framework it is based on as well as its organic classification and consequently the classification of dictionaries.
