Name The BRENIPOL database: energy policies supporting innovation and reduced greenhouse gas emissions in Brazil 1992-2022
Description

BRENIPOL is a novel dataset that compiles and classifies national energy policies implemented in Brazil since 1992 (post-Eco-92). The dataset supports the analysis of how public policies contribute to clean innovation and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions, offering a structured and analytical view of Brazil’s energy policy landscape over three decades.

BRENIPOL draws on the International Energy Agency (IEA) Energy Policies database as a starting point but substantially advances them through original data collection, validation, and interpretation. The dataset incorporates additional policies, refines and verifies policy information using multiple primary sources, and introduces new analytical dimensions grounded in the innovation and sustainability literature. This approach enables a more comprehensive and theoretically informed classification of Brazil’s energy policies, particularly regarding their role in fostering clean innovation and addressing climate-related challenges.
