What funds the European Commission on Digital Humanities?

This repository contains the final dataset of European Commission-funded Digital Humanities (DH) projects and the selection script used to produce it, accompanying:

Project data was retrieved from the CORDIS open data portal (https://data.europa.eu), which provides structured bulk exports of all projects funded under the EU Framework Programmes. This study uses the Horizon 2020 (2014–2020) and Horizon Europe (2021–2027) exports, corresponding to the November 2024 CORDIS update.

Out of a total of 49,868 funded projects in the two programmes, 211 were selected as related to Digital Humanities, using the selection strategy described below.

A project was included if it matched at least one of the following keywords "digital humanities", "digital humanity", "ehumanities", "e-humanities", "humanities computing", "spatial humanities" in either:

1. its title or objective text, or
2. the EuroSciVoc thesaurus terms (title/description) assigned to it in CORDIS.

The keyword list follows the search terms proposed by Su, Zhang, and Immel (2020), Digital humanities research: Interdisciplinary collaborations, themes and implications to library and information science. Journal of Documentation, 77(1), 143–161.
