Description

The dataset contains information from a consumer survey conducted in the Community of Madrid, aimed at analysing food values and barriers to sustainable eating. Using the Best-Worst Scaling (BWS) technique, the relative importance of seven values linked to food purchasing decisions was measured: respect for nature, a sense of community, appreciation for local produce, economic justice and social equity, health considerations, price and the appearance of food. The dataset also includes variables on organic food consumption habits (monthly expenditure, percentage of the household shopping basket, perceived barriers), responsible consumption practices (waste management, consumption of animal-sourced foods, use of public transport, seeking nutritional information, social responsibility in production), social or environmental activism, and sociodemographic variables (gender, age, educational attainment, occupation, household composition and and income).
